A beautiful Norfolk Virginia morning with contrails from the east coast air corridor high above the shiloutte of First Baptist Church. This church is one of my all time favorite Norfolk buildings with its highly ornamented Romanesque Revival style. While you can't tell from this picture the pink granite ashlar and limestone trim are spectacular. First Baptist Church, Bute Street is a lovely church inside and out! I have always loved the architecture comprised of pink granite ashlar and limestone trim. It is amazing that the 'Penny Crusade' comprised of women of the church putting pennies together that helped to build and sustain this edifice. It would be great if there was a way to preserve these historical and beautiful churches in Norfolk, Va.
