Morning commute. Norfolk to Portsmouth downtown tunnel eastbound. Opened in 1952.

Night drive heading to dinner. I don't get to back seat drive much, so I took the opportunity to take some photos. Canon G15, 1/15 sec @ f/2.8, ISO 1600.

Five Star Imperial

This 1950 Chrysler Crown Imperial limousine carried Gen Douglas MacArthur to and from his office at the Dai Ichi insurance building in Tokyo during the latter part of the Occupation of Japan. When MacArthur returned to the United States in 1951, the Crown Imperial was shipped to him in New York City where he continued to use it until 1963, when it was returned to the U.S. Army motor pool and subsequently given to the MacArthur Memorial in Norfolk Virginia. New Toy

- Here's my new toy. It survived Irene parked safely in the Westin parking garage at Town Center in Virginia Beach, VA. Droid X, Black & White using the Vignette camera app.

- Got a new "used" car today - a BMW 135i convertible. The new Bimmer is great fun to drive and the trademark orange instrument panel shows its built for speed. I'm sure it's Black Sapphire Metallic exterior will soon be a featured photo on this blog. Canon G11, 1/3 sec @ f/2.8, ISO 800 in macro mode.

Frosty Beamer

- Awoke to a heavy frost this morning. Went out to get the paper and decided it was worth a picture of the frosty emblem on Cindy's BMW. While it was cold this morning with snow still on the ground, today's high of 55ºF and tomorrow's forecast for lows 60's will make it seem as if Spring is here. Canon G11, 1/100 @ f/3.2, ISO 200, in macro mode.

At the Car Wash

- Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa.
Took both cars to the Freedom Wash today to get the road salt and grime off. Had to take some pictures while being conveyored through the wash. This is the spot free rinse on the wind shield. Is it just me or do you see an dancer in this photo as well?

Tunnel Crawl

- Brake lights abound as I did the tunnel crawl last Thursday afternoon coming back from Hampton Virginia through the Hampton Roads Bridge Tunnel - the HRBT to locals. I was headed east on I64 on the down slope toward the bottom of Thimble Shoals channel. The camera was dash mounted and fired with a remote control. Canon G11, 1/10 sec @ f/4.5, ISO 400.

A friend at work owns this cherry restored 1953 Volkswagen Beetle. He usually drives it on Fridays so I took advantage of it and captured today's photo. Canon 7D, 1/250 sec @ f/4.0, ISO 400, Lensbaby Composer with wide angle adapter.

236 - Cooper Jack

Parked next to this Mini Cooper with the these Union Jack covers on the side and rear view mirrors. I think Coopers now have the most after market accessories of any car. It seems that everyone who has one has tricked it up. In the old days the original VW Beetle was king of the accessories, I should know. Wish I still had that 1970 Bug.
