Winter Carnival
The Winter Carnival at Norfolk Virginia's MacArthur Center is a new addition this year along with the popular MacArthur on Ice public ice skating rink. It sure makes for a nice scene during the deep purple sky of twilight.

Extreme Project 365 x 3
- The downtown Norfolk Virginia skyline rimmed in holiday lights at twilight. Notice the ice skaters at the MacArthur Mall rink in the right foreground. Photo 362 of this year's 365 project. For me it's 365 x 3 so that makes 1092 straight daily photos and blog posts - extreme project 365x3. Canon G11, 0.8 sec @ f/8.0, ISO 400 camera stabilized on the ledge of the Bank Street parking garage.

Twilight Signage
- There are always amazing colors at twilight. This is why photographers call this the golden hour. This is actually civil twilight, that time after the sun has completely set but the sky still has a little illumination. The signs are lit by the street light and car headlights. Canon G11, 1/20 sec @ f/3.5, ISO 800.

Paradise Gardens
- I received some advice a while back that a photographer should look up, down and all around. I stopped one evening at the intersection of Princess Anne Road and Church Street in Norfolk Virginia and looked up to see this tree illuminated by the street lights. The tree stands next to McCullough Paradise Gardens an apartment complex owned by the United House of Prayer for All People which is located directly across Church Street. iPhone 4, 1/15 sec @ f/2.8, ISO 400.

James River Twilight
- Twilight over the James River from the Jamestown-Scotland Ferry. The image is a little soft beacuse of the long exposure and vibrations from the ferry's engines. Canon G11, 15 secs @ f/8.0, ISO 100,

Twilight Tide
- The Tide light rail vehicle (LRV) #407 at the Newtown Road station in Norfolk Virginia. Got my first ride with Rail Operator Bill Foss tonight. This project that has almost completely consumed Hampton Roads Transit over the past four years. The Tide opens to the public with three free days beginning August 19th. Canon G11, 1/6 sec @ f/8.0, ISO 200.

Water Lights
Town Point Park in Norfolk Virginia has a cool new sidewalk fountain with various colored lights. Makes for a nice image 30 minutes after sunset during the civil twilight. Canon G11, 2.5 sec @ f/4.0, ISO 100, camera sitting on the sidewalk with a 2 second shutter delay used.

National Mall Sunset
- Looking west from the World War II Memorial on the National Mall in Washington DC towards the Lincoln Memorial shortly after sunset. The 30 minutes after sunset there is a very special time called "Civil Twilight" when there is still some light in the sky. The sky starts to turn a deep blue or purple in color. This special time is very short lived but cherished by photographers for city scenes. Canon 7D, 5 seconds @ f/22, ISO 100, 70mm focal length and mounted on a tripod.
