Project Trifecta
I had the honor to be a part of the team that created The Tide light rail and the Slover Library and now part of the turnaround at Elizabeth River Crossings. Couldn’t pass up the opportunity to capture all three in one photo.

The Present - Day 150 #CY365
The magic button for opening the doors on Norfolk Virginia's light rail system "The Tide". You've got to be in the present and ready to press when it turns green or you'll find your self on the way to the next stop. iPhone 5s.

Knobby - Day 17 #CY365
Today's challenge was "Knobby" so I spotted this tactile mat at the light rail pedestrian crossing on Monticello Avenue in Norfolk Virginia on my way to the office. The early morning sunlight provided nice shadows. Canon 5D Mark II, 1/250 sec @ f/5.0, ISO 100 zoom at 95mm focal length.

Newtown @ Night
The Tide #407 arrives at the Newtown Station, the City's eastern most border. Hopefully we'll see Virginia Beach commit to an extension to the Oceanfront in 2014 giving the The Tide another 12 miles of running room. Canon G11, 1/6 sec @ f/8.0, ISO 200.

Night Tide
The Tide light rail leaves the MacArthur Plaza Station with the downtown Norfolk skyline as a back drop. Canon 5D Mark II, 4 second exposure @ f/11.0, ISO 100, 24mm focal length.

The Holiday Express
The Hampton Roads Transit Holiday Express zips by on Monticello Avenue in Norfolk Virginia tonight. This is one cool full train wrap!

Happy Birthday to The Tide
On year ago today The Tide light rail opened to the public. It's been a great first year and I'm looking forward to voting in November to bring The Tide to Virginia Beach. Canon 5D Mark II, 1/250 sec @ f/16.0, ISO 200.

Rail Shadow
- Late afternoon sun casts a sharp shadow of this hand rail onto the concrete ramp. iPhone 4 , 1/1000 sec @ f/2.8, ISO 80, Camera+ app, Pinhole camera effect applied.

The Tide Comes In
The Tide comes in to the Norfolk State Station. The Hampton Roads Transit light rail carried its one millionth passenger yesterday reaching that milestone five months ahead of projections. Canon G1X, 1/1250 sec @ f/6.3, ISO 200, converted to black and white using the Silver Efex Pro 2 plug-in in Lightroom 4.

Station Art
- Station art located at The Tide's Ft. Norfolk/EVMC station in Norfolk Virginia. This station is the west end of the line. My two favorite art stations are this one and Newtown Road at the east end of the line. iPhone 4, 1/172 sec @ f/2.8, ISO 80, Camera+ app.

Wet Tide
- It was a wet night for The Tide light rail arriving at the Civic Plaza station in downtown Norfolk, Virginia. Canon G11, 0.6 sec @ f/8.0, ISO 200, camera sitting on the station handrail and fired using the 2 second delay timer to avoid camera shake.

Still Shiny
- The Tide light rail has been running for six months now and I get to ride just about every weekday. I am proud of what a great job my old colleagues at HRT have done in operating and maintaining the trains. It is right on schedule and the railcars still gleam like they are new. Canon G11, 1/160 sec @ f/5.0, ISO 200.

Catch The Tide
- Not the sight you want to see from the third floor landing when you are trying to catch The Tide. So I missed my train. I have got to get that slow wall clock in my office adjusted. No worries, another showed up in exactly 10 minutes, right on schedule. iPhone 4, 1/238 sec @ f/2.8, ISO 80.

Here Comes My Train.
- Rode The Tide to and from a meeting at Norfolk City Hall this afternoon. This is my westbound return trip train pulling into the Civic Plaza station. When I got on board there was a little boy riding with his grandparents who was so excited. I asked him if he was having fun and he nodded yes. His grandfather said he loved trains and then he said, well heck I love trains too. Every time I ride I see people truly enjoying themselves and almost everyone comments that The Tide needs to go to Virginia Beach. I couldn't agree more. This is photo 364 of 365, just one more to finish out my third year of daily photos. iPhone 4, 1/625 sec @ f/2.8, ISO 80, Camera + app.
