Chicken or the Egg? - Day 104 #CY365
Today's prompt was "Chicken or the Egg?". So I pulled out an Easter PEZ Dispenser and set her in the middle of a basket of eggs. The picture is what it is but the circular cause and circumstance has been debated for all of written history.
Consider this - Macrobius, an early 5th century Roman philosopher, found the problem to be interesting: "You jest about what you suppose to be a triviality, in asking whether the hen came first from an egg or the egg from a hen, but the point should be regarded as one of importance, one worthy of discussion, and careful discussion at that."
Canon 5D Mark II, 1/1600 sec @ f/3.5, ISO 800, 100mm macro lens.

Crowded Around - Day 54 #CY365
My PEZ Army has my back as I work at my computer. This crowd of about 600 PEZ dispensers always blows visitors away. I must admit they are pretty awesome until it comes time to dust them off. Canon 5D Mark II, 1/60 sec @ f/4.0, ISO 800, 14mm wide angle lens.

Visiting - Day 47
"Luminous beings are we" - Yoda from Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back (1980). My PEZ limited edition Crystal Head Yoda spotlighted by two LED flashlight beams while visiting the kitchen counter tonight. Canon 7D, 1/160 sec @ f/11.0, ISO 800, 100mm macro lens.

Conversation - Day 44 #CY365
Used some of my vast PEZ collection for today's photo. The PEZ Valentine's Day dispensers mimic the popular conversation candy hearts. I really struggled with this topic today. Not that happy with the results. Canon 7D, 1/15 sec @ f/18, ISO 800, 100mm macro lens.

Pose - Day 18 #CY365
Miss Piggy strikes a pose and says "Moi has always possessed a charm that is lethal to men." Canon 5D Mark II, 1/1000 sec @ f/5.6, ISO 800, 100mm macro lens.

Glow PEZ Skull
This is a glow in the dark PEZ Skull dispenser. It's a long exposure in a totally dark room. Michael saved the day with a last minute suggestion for this photo. Skull week continues. Canon 7D, 3.2 sec @ f/11.0, ISO 200, 100mm macro lens.

Dark Knight Rises as a PEZ
I figured tonight was the appropriate time for a Batman and Catwoman PEZ dispenser photo. Not heading out for a midnight showing of the Dark Night Rises but I can't wait to see the third film in the current millenium series. Canon 7D, 1/40 sec @ f/8.0, ISO 800, 100mm macro lens, two LED Litepanels.

Deuteragonist
- My latest PEZ dispenser acquisition is Ferb Fletcher. Ferb and his step brother Phineas Flynn are the stars of the animated series Phineas and Ferb. Creators Dan Povenmire and Jeff "Swampy" Marsh worked together on the 1990's Nickelodeon classic series Rocko's Modern Life. As I was working on this post, my son Mike pointed out some rather significant trivia related to Phineas and Ferb. The boy's father, Lawrence Fletcher, is voiced by Richard O'Brien who wrote the cult musical The Rocky Horror Show and appeared in the film as the character Riff Raff. Of course Ferb is the deuteragonist, from the Greek deuteragonistes meaning second actor or typically the second most important character. Canon 7D, 1/2500 sec @ f/6.3, ISO 800, 100mm macro lens, and two LED litepanels.

New Pez!
- As regular followers of my blog know, I collect PEZ dispensers. Since I have several hundred it is a rare treat to get a new one, especially when its a gift. My grandson Robert brought me this new style Disney Dalmatian dispenser last week. So this picture and blog post is a big thank to Robert for expanding grandpa's wall of PEZ. He and I have a good arrangement, I get the PEZ dispensers he gets the PEZ candy.
This photo is a good example of shallow depth of field and bokeh. You will notice that his nose and right eye are in sharp focus at f/4.0 but the left eye which is just a few millimeters farther away is beginning to fall out of the shallow field of sharp focus. The background is completely out of focus with the soft highlights known as bokeh. Canon 40D, 1/50 sec @ f/4.0, ISO 800, 100mm macro lens, room light.

Looking Down on Me
My PEZ collection always watches over me at my computer. This is part of a larger shelf with about 500 different PEZ's. Can you spot Popeye, Zoro, Elvis and the GEICO Gecko? This collection leaves just about everyone who sees it speechless. Canon 40D, 1/40 sec @ f/6.3, ISO 800, 50mm prime lens.

PEZ Patrick's Day
- I got together with some of my Pez pals to celebrate PEZ Patrick's Day. We all got greened up and broke out the Guinness and Harp. These guys really know how to party. Canon 7D, 1/250 sec @ f/4.0, ISO 400, zoom at 44mm, on camera flash with two LED litepanels for fill.
