169 - Faded Glory

From 365 Project
One of my neighbors painted this flag on their fence in the days just after 9/11. Flags, feelings of national pride and patriotism were wide spread. Just as the flag on this fence, much of those have faded in the ensuing years. Canon 40D, 1/60 sec @ f/4.0, ISO 400, 85mm f/1.8 prime lens with a little help from the camera's pop up flash.

168 - The Grand Marshall

From 365 Project
The Grand Marshall daylily leads the parade of color in my garden. Canon G10, 1/250 sec @ f/4.0, ISO 400, 25mm equivalent focal length in macro mode, illuminated at night by a Litepanel Micro LED light.

167 - Prime Corners

From 365 Project
This is an extreme angle look at the southeast corner of City Hall in Hampton, Virginia. The 1976 modern stone building is a striking architectural landmark in one of the country's oldest cities dating 1610. The unique design creates many more prime "corner offices" with great views of the harbor and downtown. Canon G10, 1/500 sec @ f/8.0, ISO 200, 11mm equivalent focal length, converted to black and white using Silver Efex Pro plug-in in Photoshop Elements.

166 - Lightning Bug

From 365 Project
Up close and personal with this lightning bug. They started appearing last week and I see more and more each night. I hope to get a long exposure with several glowing at once but I need to wait until there are more of them. Canon G10, 1/60 sec @ f/4.0, ISO 400, 25mm equivalent focal length, on camera flash with flash compensation at -1 stop.

165 - Osprey

From 365 Project
I was watching this Osprey circling and diving for fish just off the beach at Sandbridge, Virginia today. She has just caught a fish and is flying off with it in her talons. The shot is not tack sharp focused as I would have liked but she was moving fast and I was happy enough with it to feature it as today's post. Canon 40D, 1/500 sec at f/13.0, ISO 200, 254mm.

164 - Alabama Jubilee

From 365 Project
The Alabama Jubilee was one of the first Daylilies I collected about five years ago. Even though I have many varieties now, these remain one of my favorites. I look forward to mid June every year for the big orange blossoms to appear. These plants multiply quickly and have nice green foiliage all year. Canon 40D, 1/125 sec @ f/18.0, ISO 800, 50mm compact macro lens.
