59 - Cold and Wet Icon

From 365 Project
Town Center of Virginia Beach on a cold and rainy night. We went to see comedian Josh Blue at the Funny Bone Comedy Club tonight with friends Susan and Duane. After waiting outside in the cold for 30 minutes we finally got to head to the door and warmth, but I stopped to take this picture of the icon building bracing the camera on the railing. Canon G10, 1/10s, f/3.2, ISO 400, 82mm equivalent focal length.

56 - Details, Details

From 365 Project
Architectural details like these found in Norfolk Virginia's 1904 Carnegie Library atrium are fascinating. The Beaux Arts Classical library was designed by the Boston firm of Herbert D. Hale and Henry G. Morse. Located in the West Freemason Street Area Historic District the building has been restored as commercial office space. It served as the city's main library until 1964 when the modern Kirn Memorial Library opened on City Hall Avenue. The Kirn is now being demolished to make way for The Tide light rail transit line and the main library has moved into the nearby Seaboard Building; another downtown landmark destined to make an appearance on this blog in the future. Canon 40D, 1/50s, f/6.3, ISO 200, Canon 17-55mm f/2.8 zoom to 33mm.

55 - Bare Limbs, Blue Skies

From 365 Project
This group of majestic trees is located in the parking lot of Hampton Road's Transit's headquarters off Victoria Boulevard in Hampton Virginia. The site has been the home of transit companies for over 100 year and these trees which date from the streetcar era survived the late 1980's rebuild. The bare limbs will soon bud out as many signs of spring are starting to appear. Captured with a Canon G10, 1/400s, f/8.0, ISO 200, 30mm equivalent focal length.

54 - Goddesses

From 365 Project
Two of the four goddesses, hope and good fortune, at the entrance of the John H. Core mausoleum in Norfolk's Elmwood Cemetery. It is the largest private mausoleum in the City and was constructed in the early 1900's under the specific guidance of Mr. Core's will. John Core was a businessman and a member of Mosby's Rangers during the Civil War. He and his wife Martha Anne rested in peace for almost 100 years until the mausoleum was vandalized in 2007. This picture was made with a Canon G10, 1/100s, f/8.0, ISO 200, 63mm equivalent focal length and converted to black and white with a "Holga" look using Silver Efex Pro in Photoshop Elements.
